At 7.42 carats, this sphene from Madagascar carries its green color through a pear cut, measuring 16.9 x 10.9 x 6.5 mm.

Sphene has dispersion higher than diamond, so a well-cut stone throws more fire than almost any other gemstone. Madagascar has produced an unusually wide range of gem species since the mid 1990s. It carries no treatment of any kind, so the color you see is the color that came out of the ground.
