This 50.7-carat agate is shaped as a cabochon measuring 45.6 x 23.4 x 6 mm, with an orange body color, sourced from Indonesia.

Agate is banded chalcedony, quartz laid down in patient layers over ages, so every stone is the cross-section of a different slow story. Indonesia's volcanic deposits are a leading modern source of patterned agate and chalcedony. It is wholly untreated, its color finished by geology rather than by any furnace or enhancement.
