Most fine red garnet is in truth a blend of two species, pyrope and almandine, and this gemstone sits on that series, taking brightness from the pyrope side and depth from the almandine. Tanzania's gem gravels yield one of the widest spreads of garnet species anywhere, with the saturation East African material is known for. It carries no treatment of any kind, so the color you see is the color that came out of the ground.
