This 4.53-carat hessonite garnet is cut as an oval measuring 10.9 x 9.2 x 6.5 mm, with an orange body color, sourced from Sri Lanka.

Hessonite is the grossular garnet the trade calls the cinnamon stone, warm amber to honey colors worn since antiquity. Sri Lanka's gravels have produced gemstones for more than two thousand years, garnet among them since the earliest trade. It carries no treatment of any kind, so the color you see is the color that came out of the ground. That is typical of garnet, one of the few gem families that reaches the market almost entirely untreated.
