This 2.98-carat sapphire is cut as an oval measuring 8.9 x 7.5 x 5.5 mm, with a blue body color, sourced from Sri Lanka.

Sapphire is corundum, one of the hardest materials in the gem world after diamond, and it comes in every color the species holds except the red the trade reserves for ruby. Sri Lankan sapphire is hand-picked from river gravels worked for two thousand years, and the island's signature is bright, glassy color with high transparency. It carries no treatment of any kind, so the color you see is the color that came out of the ground.
