Garnet-Spessartite

2.92 ct Orange Garnet-Spessartite - Pear

GEM:
Spessartite Garnet
2.92 ct Pear Orange 9.7x6.9x5.9 mm
PROVENANCE:
Mozambique Not Enhanced

At 2.92 carats, this spessartite garnet from Mozambique carries its orange color through a pear cut, measuring 9.7 x 6.9 x 5.9 mm.

Spessartite is the manganese garnet that owns the orange end of the family, from honeyed tones to the saturated mandarin color collectors chase. Mozambique's northern gem fields supply ruby, tourmaline, and a steady run of fine garnet with the strong color East Africa is known for. It is entirely untreated; no heat, no enhancement, the color exactly as the earth made it. That is typical of garnet, one of the few gem families that reaches the market almost entirely untreated.

Its exact combination of color, cut, and origin is its own, the kind of center stone you choose on purpose and build a piece around. Hand-selected and filmed by Caveman Gems in good light, shown as honestly as a screen allows.
