2.66 ct Yellow Sphene - Trillion

At 2.66 carats, this sphene from Brazil carries its yellow color through a trillion cut, measuring 7.3 x 7.4 x 4.7 mm.

Sphene has dispersion higher than diamond, so a well-cut stone throws more fire than almost any other gemstone. Brazil has been one of the most prolific colored-gemstone sources in the world for a century, and still turns up new material on a regular basis. It is wholly untreated, its color finished by geology rather than by any furnace or enhancement.

Its exact combination of color, cut, and origin is its own, the kind of center stone you choose on purpose and build a piece around. Hand-selected and filmed by Caveman Gems in good light, shown as honestly as a screen allows.
