Peridot is the gem form of olivine, colored green by the iron in its own structure, one of the few gems that occurs in a single color. Pakistan's northern ranges produce fine gems from some of the highest-altitude mines in the world. It is entirely untreated; no heat, no enhancement, the color exactly as the earth made it.
