Spinel
1.96 ct Red Spinel - Round

At 1.96 carats, this spinel from Burma carries its red color through a round cut, measuring 7.7 x 5.3 mm.
Spinel is the gemstone long mistaken for ruby in old crown jewels; in its own right it grows as a hard, brilliant, untreated red, pink, or blue. Burma has supplied the gem trade with prized material for centuries, from narrow and irregularly worked deposits. It is entirely untreated; no heat, no enhancement, the color exactly as the earth made it.
A single natural gemstone with no duplicate behind it; once it is set or collected, there is no other. It will outlast everyone who owns it, which is most of what an heirloom really is. Hand-selected and filmed by Caveman Gems in good light, shown as honestly as a screen allows.
