At 1.47 carats, this demantoid garnet from Namibia carries its yellow color through a round cut, measuring 6.3 x 4.8 mm.

Demantoid is green andradite with dispersion higher than diamond's, so it throws more fire than the stone the hardness scale is named for. Namibia is a quieter source than its East African neighbors, but its deposits hold a strong record with the garnet family in particular. It is entirely untreated; no heat, no enhancement, the color exactly as the earth made it.
