1.37 ct Red Garnet-Rhodolite - Oval

At 1.37 carats, this rhodolite garnet from Tanzania carries its red color through an oval cut, measuring 7.7 x 5.2 x .2 mm.

Rhodolite sits between pyrope and almandine, with a raspberry note the eye reads as livelier than either parent species. Tanzania's gem gravels yield one of the widest spreads of garnet species anywhere, with the saturation East African material is known for. It carries no treatment of any kind, so the color you see is the color that came out of the ground. That is typical of garnet, one of the few gem families that reaches the market almost entirely untreated.
