This 1.37-carat spinel is cut as a round measuring 5.5 x 3.5 mm, with a purple body color, sourced from Sri Lanka.

Spinel is the gemstone long mistaken for ruby in old crown jewels; in its own right it grows as a hard, brilliant, untreated red, pink, or blue. Sri Lanka's gem gravels have been worked continuously for more than two thousand years. It carries no treatment of any kind, so the color you see is the color that came out of the ground.
