Ruby is the red form of corundum, sapphire's sibling species, and fine examples are among the most valuable colored gemstones per carat. Burma is the historic benchmark for ruby; Mogok reds are what the trade grades against, from deposits narrow enough to keep the name expensive. It is entirely untreated; no heat, no enhancement, the color exactly as the earth made it. It is GIA-certified, and the report is available to view.
