At 1.22 carats, this tsavorite garnet from Tanzania carries its green color through an oval cut, measuring 6.6 x 4.5 x 3.0 mm.

Tsavorite is the chrome-green grossular garnet of East Africa, a color comparable to fine emerald and often cleaner to the eye. Tanzania's gem gravels yield one of the widest spreads of garnet species anywhere, with the saturation East African material is known for. It is wholly untreated, its color finished by geology rather than by any furnace or enhancement.
