This 0.92-carat andradite garnet is cut as an oval measuring 6.8 x 5.1 x 3.8 mm, with a brown body color, sourced from Brazil.

Andradite is the most lustrous of the garnet species, prized for a dispersion, or fire, that can exceed diamond, so a well-cut example flashes color as it moves. Brazilian deposits powered much of the late twentieth century's colored gemstone renaissance, and the country still surfaces unusual garnet material on a regular basis. It is entirely untreated; no heat, no enhancement, the color exactly as the earth made it.
