0.70 ct Green Garnet-Demantoid - Oval

At 0.7 carats, this demantoid garnet from Madagascar carries its green color through an oval cut, measuring 5.7 x 4.7 x 3.2 mm.

Demantoid is green andradite with dispersion higher than diamond's, so it throws more fire than the stone the hardness scale is named for. Madagascar has produced an unusually wide range of gem species since the mid 1990s, and its garnets arrive in colors the older sources rarely matched. It carries no treatment of any kind, so the color you see is the color that came out of the ground.
