0.79 ct Green Garnet-Demantoid - Oval

This 0.79-carat demantoid garnet is cut as an oval measuring 6 x 5.1 x 3.4 mm, with a green body color, sourced from Namibia.

Demantoid is green andradite with dispersion higher than diamond's, so it throws more fire than the stone the hardness scale is named for. Namibia is a quieter source than its East African neighbors, but its deposits hold a strong record with the garnet family in particular. It is wholly untreated, its color finished by geology rather than by any furnace or enhancement.
