At 0.72 carats, this alexandrite from Sri Lanka carries its green color through a cushion cut, measuring 5.4 x 5.2 x 2.3 mm.

Alexandrite is the color-change chrysoberyl, green in daylight and red under lamplight; few gemstones genuinely change hue, and this is the one that defined the effect. Sri Lanka's gem gravels have been worked continuously for more than two thousand years. It carries no treatment of any kind, so the color you see is the color that came out of the ground.
