Paraiba tourmaline owes its electric glow to traces of copper, a coloring agent almost no other gemstone carries. Brazil has been one of the most prolific colored-gemstone sources in the world for a century, and still turns up new material on a regular basis. It is entirely untreated; no heat, no enhancement, the color exactly as the earth made it.
