At 0.66 carats, this demantoid garnet from Namibia carries its green color through a round cut, measuring 5 x 3.6 mm.

Demantoid is green andradite with dispersion higher than diamond's, so it throws more fire than the stone the hardness scale is named for. Namibia is a quieter source than its East African neighbors, but its deposits hold a strong record with the garnet family in particular. It is wholly untreated, its color finished by geology rather than by any furnace or enhancement.
