0.65 ct Green Garnet-Demantoid - Oval

This 0.65-carat demantoid garnet is cut as an oval measuring 5.4 x 4.7 x 3.5 mm, with a green body color, sourced from Madagascar.

Demantoid is green andradite with dispersion higher than diamond's, so it throws more fire than the stone the hardness scale is named for. Madagascar has produced an unusually wide range of gem species since the mid 1990s, and its garnets arrive in colors the older sources rarely matched. It is wholly untreated, its color finished by geology rather than by any furnace or enhancement.
