0.25 ct Blue Alexandrite - Oval

At 0.25 carats, this alexandrite from Brazil carries its blue color through an oval cut, measuring 4.5 x 3.1 x 2.4 mm.

Alexandrite is the color-change chrysoberyl, green in daylight and red under lamplight; few gemstones genuinely change hue, and this is the one that defined the effect. Brazil has been one of the most prolific colored-gemstone sources in the world for a century, and still turns up new material on a regular basis. It is wholly untreated, its color finished by geology rather than by any furnace or enhancement.
