Why it holds
A stone that exists once makes a piece that exists once.
People who collect things understand this already. A print in an edition of five hundred is a print. A proof that exists once is something else, and it is not the paper that makes the difference.
Every stone we cut is cut once. Whatever we make around it inherits that, whether we finished it last year or you are designing it this week. It cannot be reordered by anybody, including us.
Of the 137 finished pieces in the collection today, 118 exist as a single piece. A piece designed for you exists as a single piece by definition.
