Garnet
5.70 ct Red Garnet - Pear

At 5.7 carats, this pyrope-almandine garnet from Tanzania carries its red color through a pear cut, measuring 13.7 x 9.3 x 7.1 mm.
Most fine red garnet is in truth a blend of two species, pyrope and almandine, and this gemstone sits on that series, taking brightness from the pyrope side and depth from the almandine. Tanzania's gem gravels yield one of the widest spreads of garnet species anywhere, with the saturation East African material is known for. It is entirely untreated; no heat, no enhancement, the color exactly as the earth made it. That is typical of garnet, one of the few gem families that reaches the market almost entirely untreated.
This is a center-stone-grade gemstone with a character of its own, chosen rather than settled for. Hand-selected and photographed by Caveman Gems in good light, shown as honestly as a screen allows.
