At 2.13 carats, this sunstone from Oregon carries its orange color through an oval cut, measuring 9.8 x 7.2 x 5.3 mm.

Sunstone catches a metallic glitter from within, tiny platelets of copper throwing back light the trade calls aventurescence; Oregon's is the rare kind colored all the way through the crystal. Oregon is the only place that produces sunstone with copper colored all the way through the crystal, the prized American material. It is wholly untreated, its color finished by geology rather than by any furnace or enhancement.
